CoreCivic Expands Policy Support, Includes Pell Grant and Voting Rights Restoration
In 2020, CoreCivic expanded its support of reentry-friendly public policies to include the restoration of Pell Grants for incarcerated individuals, the restoration of voting rights for the formerly incarcerated, and licensure reform to remove punitive measures that make it harder for the formerly incarcerated to find and keep jobs.
In 2017, CoreCivic announced the launch of a nationwide initiative to advocate for a range of government policies to help justice-involved individuals successfully reenter the community and stay out of prison. Since then, more than 2,000 letters of support have been issued by CoreCivic in support of policies like "Ban the Box" and the "First Step Act."
