CoreCivic is always looking for ways to give back to the communities we serve. Thanks to a backpack fulfillment program at the Bent County Correctional Facility in Las Animas, Colorado, we're able to do just that while also teaching program participants valuable skills that they can use to find employment upon release.
The program allows those in our care to assemble food packages, which are sent to food banks to be distributed to underserved children in their backpacks at school. While helping to make a difference in communities across the United States, those working in the program also become industry certified to operate a forklift. The program is nearing one million packages assembled since it launched in 2018.
