Every day, vocational instructors at CoreCivic’s Crowley County Correctional Facility in Colorado do the critical work of helping inmates learn real-world job skills. One program accomplishes this task while also allowing inmates to experience the joy of meaningful community service.

Through a four-year journeyman program, inmates at Crowley learn the basics of carpentry – skills they will carry into the workforce after release. The program’s signature focus is cabinets and trusses, which are donated to Habitat for Humanity where they are put to good use in homes for families in need of affordable housing.

The program acts as a catalyst for change, both for the families who benefit from the donations and the inmates who are able to give back.
